This watercolor was one of the first works completed by LAMRK. It is a simple still life of some cherries, strawberries, and celery with a basket in the background. The colors arise from a muted color palette with the light reflected within the burgundy of the wine.

Description of work: These symbols of Oregon arrive in early spring and elevate the appreciation of the woodland landscape. This is the Pacific Trillium (T. Ovatum). Trillium, From the latin ‘tri’ refers to the flower parts occuring in threes; and ‘llium’ from the Latin liliaceous refers to the funnel- shaped flower; and flexipes, from the Latin undulatum (i.e.,wary) refers to the petals’ wavy margins.

Description of work: A rose of great intensity with an interesting color contrast between the burnt sienna and the warmer orange vigorous bloom. The deep bronze of the petal and green foliage gives a highlight that is most impressive. The large, classically shaped, centered bloom in bronzed peach creates special warmth emanating from the painting.

Description of work: This lovely cottage garden has a walkway that is bordered by colorful ruby red hollyhocks. The rosy roofed cottage is surrounded by trees and bushes painted in different hues of green. The cloudless sky has magnificent shades of azure.

Description of work: Humans have been drawing volcanic eruptions as evidenced by the cave depictions and neolithic drawings of intense volcanic activity. this fueled a drawing in an effort to bring some of the glorious image of the planet’s pyrotechnic power to paper. The devastation can be seen in the foreground by the remnants of a lone tree that was carbonized and chronicles the Earth’s powerful outburst of fire and lava.

Description of work: The illegible brushstrokes show orange tulips immersed in a sea of leaves. The tulips are vivid and almost incandescent against the green ribbons of the leaves. The painting effects dissolve the individual leaves and the eyes just skip over the images of the tulips making them barely visible in a profusion of green

Description of work: The still life focuses on an orchid and fruit. There is a certain fascination with the fruit’s shape, which changes depending on the viewpoint (the peach is the fullest and richest). The luminous color of the orchid is contrasted with the pastel of the flower pot. This simple study examines nature and color dominates the composition. Sketching is done with multiple marks in pencil and paint.

Description of work: The burning candle illuminates the bouquet of flowers in a vase. The sprigs and leaves in the arrangement lend a lightness and airness to the flowers. The warm colors of the bouquet can be seen in the white shrub roses, blue enhanced anemones, and red tulips. The foliage flows from one piece to another and represents the simplistic and expansive beauty of the still life emerging from the painting of details. The cool and darker shadows of the stem provide equalization of the elements in the painting.

Description of work: This watercolor transmits subtle coloration, Shadings, and striations in the pears and calla lilies. The simplicity of the white calla lilies and a bowl of pears exercises painting techniques to create vibrant watercolor art. There is a balance between the stark whiteness of the calla lilies and the pear shades of yellow and terracotta. The vase gradient of gray migrates to the warm cream of aubergine.

Description of work: The expressive sunflower watercolor seems to act as a bridge between abstraction and realism. The simplistic colors are vibrant and express the emotions usually associated with the life of sunflowers. The brilliance of the yellow paint gathers around the eye of the flower, which contains different colors. The stem and leafy structures are subtle and yet stand alone, gathering around the center piece.

Description of work: During life, flowers are a frequent subject. Although calla lilies are usually considered valuable for their foliage, the focus in this drawing is on the blossoms. The flower is pure white and contrasts to the gray and shaded spadix, which is the spike having small flowers borne on the fleshy stem. In some cultures, the calla lily is a symbol of death.

Description of work: Many have been enthralled with the moment of dolphins and these movements are expressed in this beautiful watercolor painting. Here there is a fascination of their fluid motion. Because dolphins must make frequent trips to the surface of the water to catch a breath, this watercolor has an emphasis on the fact that it is a mammal. This is a reminder of the Mexico, Sinaloa state, Mazatian city statue of the dolphins along the Malecon (waterfront street).

Description of work: Wandering along a path that traverses vineyards is pastoral. The jewel-like colors create an idyllic and peaceful scene under an intense cerulean sky. The colors of the grapes are slightly muted and warm in the rich burgundies, while the cool and darker green shadows mold the surrounding foliage.
